Why you cannot level past a certain point
On PvP servers there is a second cap nobody mentions, and it depends on how old the server is.
Awareness is Soulmask's main character level, and it has two ceilings. Players usually find the first one and never learn about the second.
The cap everyone knows
Max Awareness level is the absolute maximum Awareness level, default 60. A host can set it between 1 and 60.
The cap that actually stops you — on PvP servers
There is a second ceiling, based on how many days the server has been running: one setting per day for the first ten days. On most modes it is set to 60 for every day, so it never binds and you will never notice it. On the PvP schema it is a real ladder.
| Mode schema | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 8 | Day 9 | Day 10 | Max level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Default | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| Action | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| Creative | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| Management | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| PvP gates you | 29 | 34 | 39 | 44 | 49 | 54 | 59 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
On a PvP server you are capped at 29 on day one, and the ceiling rises by five a day to 59 on day seven before reaching 60 on day eight. No amount of experience moves it — it lifts on the server's clock, not yours. That is a deliberate levelling race, and it is why an early PvP server feels like it has a wall in it.
Of the 132 configurations the developer ships, 24 use the PvP ladder and 84 use a flat 60. New characters start at level 1.
Once the cap is not the problem
Awareness experience is its own multiplier, Awareness XP (default 1), separate from body XP (Body XP), mask XP (Mask XP) and proficiency XP (Proficiency XP). Raising the wrong one is a common mistake — there are 24 distinct XP settings and they do not overlap.
